PINOY PRIDE! DOUBLE WIN FOR THE PHILLIPPINES

Bicolana Beauty Queen Sharmaine Magdasoc walked away with the Miss Fashion World crown in front of a sold-out crowd at the Miss Fashion World Grand Finals, at the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last month.

The event was supported by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development for Malaysia, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan bin Md Yusof, and the Tourism Malaysia Deputy Director General (Planning) Zulkifly bin Md Said. Amongst the crowd was the CEO of Prestige Models; Stavroulla Nicolaou, President of Gyeonggi Textile Centre in LA; Gene Hwang, and Korean American Designer Grace Moon.

It was a double strike for the Philippines as Manileña Designer, Gina Frias, won the ‘Miss Fashion World Designer of the Year Award’ competing against two other high-caliber designers. Gina Frias, who is a Filipino / Belgian living in Malaysia, recently just won the ‘Best Designer’ award at the Global Short Film Awards during the Cannes Film Festival in France. For this event, she collaborated with Infiniti Jewels and dressed up the Top 5 in her winning Haute Couture Collection.

According to the Head of International Recruitment for Miss Fashion World, Andrew Jackson, he said the pageant is a “globalization gateway to women empowerment and access into major fashion events from around the world.”

The event was in aid of the Sayang Orphanage in Malaysia and 1st Runner Up Debby Gommeren and 4th Runner Up Louvis Wong went alongside Gina Frias and Andrew Jackson, where they all donated gifts for the Children.

The Top 5 consisted of Louvis Wong from Borneo (4th Runner Up), Kayla Lilly from the United Kingdom (3rd Runner Up), Isabella Worlock from England (2nd Runner Up), Debby Gommeren from Belgium (1st Runner Up), and Sharmaine Magdasoc from the Philippines (Winner)

The event was presented by Dato Sri Warren Eu, from Akero, as they are launching their new ‘Warming Lipstick’ being made available worldwide soon.

Also involved in the organization of the event was popular Beauty Pageant Director Isabelle Liow, American / Korean EMCEE Josh Moon, and famous photographer Zalrian Sayat.
