Miami Swim Week 2022
By Fashion Photographer Tony Filson of Kiss My Kite
Miami Swim Week this year was amazingly energetic and filled with, important contributors to the industry. It was a who’s who of Sports, Resort & Swimwear like nothing else in the world.
South Beach has become the vibrant, relevant, and important global catalyst of the $22 Billion USD apparel swimwear segment showing 6% growth year over year, with industry analysts seeing sustained growth into 2027. The brands showcasing their designs are as diverse and abundant as the participants at LA and NYFW. The cosmetic, consumer package goods, adult beverage, health and beauty brands that promote their products at the show make Miami Swim Week “Big Business Beuatiful”, for everyone that participates. The direct-to-consumer, prolific media, and brand awareness created are highly effective PR and marketing components to the industry with exceptional efficacy in mass market and couture branding.
This year was particularly rewarding for me covering Miami Swim Week for “World Fashion Media News”. “Project Runway” and a number of designers and HMU professionals that are alumni of Project Runway were being showcased and “Topic Project Runway” as always has amazing digital reach to compliment their TV Shows. Everyone loves Topic Project Runway and the welcome received from the designers and venues was heartfelt.
Art Hearts Fashion and Paraiso were the focal points of venues for me shooting for World Fashion Media News this year, and what a rewarding season it’s been. Gifted designers like Natalia Fedner of (Project Runway), Palmacea, Alma Aren, Puntamar, MolaMola, PQ, Smeralda, Praia, Abyss, Bonia Collective, Asherah, Berry Beachy, and Giannina Azar were just off the charts amazing! I know the talented Publisher and Editor at Large of World Fashion Media News, Sandra Kaczkurkin will share some of the amazing media coverage with you.
From an HMU perspective, the talent was world-class. HMU Project Runway alumni Brian C. Hawkins was holding court and it’s amazing how you can sit in his chair, leave looking beautiful, feeling great, and ready to take on the world. What great vibes. Bravo Brian.
Unite Hair, Japonesque, April Love, Aqua Extensions, Beachwaver, Billion Dollar Brows, and Surfer Girl Hawaii were all backstage and we captured some amazing BTS of these dedicated HMU professionals getting each model ready for the runway. Loved the HMU BTS through “The Makeup Light” of HMU legend and Creative Director Gary Baker of Unite. Beautiful work Gary!
I hope you enjoy the photographs and I look forward to covering Miami Swim Week again in 2023 to bring even more exciting fashion industry coverage from World Fashion Media News.
My best to all. Tony Filson of KissMyKite Fashion
